Heritage

The golf course was designed in 1927 by Dr. Alister Mackenzie, who went on to design The Augusta National course (the home of “The US Masters” tournament) in Georgia USA, and several other prestigious courses worldwide. These include Alwoodley and Moortown Golf Clubs near Leeds, the Rosemount course in Blairgowrie, Perth, Scotland, Cypress Point, California and the West Course at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia.

Our Heritage

The Course

The parkland course, which is only a few minutes from Worcester City Centre measures 6251 yards and features long narrow greens which provide a good test of accuracy for golfers of all standards. Failure to hit the greens will definitely test the short game abilities.

Boughton Park

Boughton Park was formerly the home of a number of Mayors of Worcester City in the 18th and 19th centuries. Our Clubhouse is a grade II listed building with several lounges, with casual and lounge bars, and excellent catering and dining facilities. There are many specimen trees within our boundaries including several centuries old English Oaks, Corsican Pines, Redwood and Beech. Coupled with lakes and a brook, the course is both a pleasure to play and to enjoy.

Rackets Section

In addition to the golf course a tennis section was formed in 1929 and the name changed to Worcester Golf and Country Club. We are now home to WGCC Rackets Section comprising Boughton Park Tennis Club and Squash and Racketball Clubs.

We have four floodlit all weather and three superb grass Tennis courts, and two indoor squash and Racketball courts.
For more information on the Rackets Section, please click the link below.

We welcome visitors and hope you will enjoy both our amenities and hospitality.
