I would firstly like to thank everyone for the very warm welcome that I have received at Worcester Golf and Country Club. It’s been a bit of a blur so far with so many new faces but I look forward to getting to know you all. As a keen golfer of over 25 years and a huge sports fan, it is fantastic opportunity for me to be involved with such a prestigious and local club. To give you a brief summary of my history and experience, my background in catering has spanned many environments, be that of country house hotel, private chef for a brigadier or functions catering for up to 10000 at a single event but has gravitated towards sports and sporting events.
During my ten year stint at the NEC and its outside catering arm Amadeus, I ran the catering for many of their high profile events such as the Scottish Open, Ladies British Open, World Match Play, Ryder Cup and Amex International golf tournaments. I was also Executive Chef at Birmingham City Football Club for three seasons when the catering was brought in-house, winning the 2010 Official Football Hospitality Awards Match day Experience in the Premiership and overall in all of the National Leagues. The Club won again in the 2011 Championship Match day Experience category.
For me as a chef, it’s not just about my passion for cooking the food but also interacting with the people who eat it. I pride myself on quality, value for money, consistently high standards and customer service. The consistency factor is hugely important – whether I’m producing fine dining food or bacon sandwiches first thing in the morning. I pride myself on keeping standards high and delivering food people will enjoy.
At Boughton Park, I hope to become a familiar face to you all, maybe out on the golf course occasionally if there’s spare time! I’ll try and spend time as I always do to speak to as many people as possible to find out if everything is as you would like. It’s important to me to hear what you think.
Best regards Andy Clayton
